American Bandwidth LLC DBA  Ameriband. American Bandwidth provides a solution for improved indoor cellular device performance using Wi-DAS. The major wireless carriers have rolled out high-quality 5G networks, which provide great outdoor coverage. However, most of these services operate on mid-band wireless spectrum or higher, making it challenging to penetrate walls and provide consistent indoor coverage. At the same time, Wi-Fi platforms have become much more robust, providing excellent indoor coverage and capacity that rivals 5G networks and efficiently delivering high speeds and very low latency. Because of this, Wi-Fi networks are emerging as a reliable alternative to expensive indoor cellular solutions such as DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems) or small cell deployments. To fully enable this cellular alternative, American Bandwidth has developed a platform to provide seamless connectivity between cellular and Wi-Fi networks called Wi-DAS. Wi-DAS is a solution to improve indoor cellular device performance by using existing Wi-Fi networks to automatically authenticate user cellular devices using the Carrier SIM. The underlying technology is a standard called Passpoint. Passpoint was established by the WiFi Alliance in 2012, and our team has been deploying Passpoint for over 10 years in large venues like airports, stadiums, and military bases. Over 95% of cellular devices ship with a Passpoint profile from the factory and the profile is enabled when the SIM is activated. Basically, in any building with cellular coverage issues, but has a good Wi-Fi network is a good candidate for Wi-DAS. Wi-DAS provides these cellular devices with a user experience comparable to cellular 5G. From the user perspective, authentication occurs without any user intervention - the device can connect while still in the user's pocket - just like moving between macro towers or DAS systems. Wi-DAS requires no hardware, no construction, and is deployed on the existing Wi-Fi controller. The solution is highly secure and fully encrypted, exposes no Personally Identifiable Information, and can usually be deployed in under 60 minutes. American Bandwidth has established catalog pricing for K-12 school districts. For other venues, pricing is based on the org details (building sizes, building counts, expected device counts, etc.) but will be similar to the K-12. In every case, cost of the solution is a small fraction of any DAS or hardware solution.
